Based on SoloBlackjack standard rules.

Should I hit or stand in blackjack?

The right decision depends on your hand, the dealer’s up card and the rules at the table. Compare all three before choosing. Some starting hands are better played by doubling or splitting, so this basic strategy calculator can recommend those actions too.

Choose your two original card ranks exactly as dealt, then choose the dealer’s visible card. Jacks, queens and kings are each worth 10 when the hand is totaled. Exact ranks determine the pair-strategy table, while SoloBlackjack also legally allows mixed 10-value cards to split; 10 + Q remains hard 20, so the recommendation is Stand.

Hard vs soft blackjack hands

A hard hand has no ace counted as 11. For example, 10 + 6 is hard 16. A soft hand has an ace currently counted as 11, so A + 6 is soft 17. The ace can switch to 1 if another card would otherwise make the hand bust.

Two cards of the same rank are treated as a pair for strategy. The game also allows any two 10-value cards to split. An ace plus a 10, Jack, Queen or King on the initial deal is a natural blackjack and needs no further decision.

What do the recommendations mean?

Hit means take another card. Stand means keep the current hand and end your turn. Double means double the wager, receive exactly one more card and then stand. If doubling is unavailable, the result also tells you whether to hit or stand instead.

Split means turn an eligible two-card hand into two hands, with an equal wager on each. Although mixed 10-value cards can legally split at the SoloBlackjack table, basic strategy still recommends standing on their hard total of 20.

Does basic strategy guarantee a win?

No. Basic strategy identifies the mathematically preferred decision under a particular ruleset. It does not guarantee a winning hand or profitable session.

The dealer’s hidden card and the next cards remain unknown, so the recommended play can still lose. Strategy is about making the stronger long-term decision with the information available, not predicting the outcome of one hand.
