How to use the blackjack strategy trainer

  1. Look at your two cards.
  2. Look at the dealer’s up card.
  3. Choose Hit, Stand, Double or Split.
  4. Get the basic-strategy answer immediately, then move to the next hand.

The four choices stay in the same place on every hand. Split is enabled for exact-rank pairs and any two 10-value cards, matching the actions available at the table.

What is blackjack basic strategy?

Blackjack basic strategy is the mathematically preferred decision for each player hand and dealer up-card combination under a particular ruleset. It helps reduce avoidable decision mistakes, but it does not predict the next card or guarantee a win.

This trainer asks for the primary action available on an initial two-card hand. When the full Blackjack Strategy Chart shows D/H or D/S, Double is the correct trainer answer because doubling is available; the feedback still explains whether to hit or stand when doubling is not allowed.

What should I practice?

Spend time on hard hands such as 16 against 10, soft hands where an ace can count as 11, exact-rank pairs, and the totals where doubling is strongest. The trainer deliberately rotates through these groups so practice is not dominated by obvious high or low totals.

Face cards are worth 10 when totals are calculated. Q + Q uses the pair strategy table; 10 + Q is classified as hard 20 and can legally split, but Stand remains the correct basic-strategy answer. Natural blackjack hands are left out because there is no Hit, Stand, Double or Split decision to practice.

Trainer rules

Practice follows SoloBlackjack’s six-deck rules: the dealer stands on soft 17, doubling is allowed on any first two cards and after a split, any two 10-value cards may split, and insurance is offered when the dealer shows an Ace. Surrender is not offered. See every assumption and decision in the strategy chart.

Strategy Chart vs Trainer

Use the Strategy Chart when you want to look up a decision. Use the trainer when you want to make the decision yourself and check it immediately. For a single editable situation, the Hit or Stand Calculator gives the answer without starting a practice session.
